  • Hyperinsulinemia (upper quartile of the non-diabetic population) or fasting plasma glucose 7.0 mmol·l-1
                                   AND
    At least two of the following:
  • Abdominal obesity
  • Dyslipidemia (serum triglycerides 1.70 mmol·l-1or HDL cholesterol <0.90 mmol·l-1)
  • Hypertension (blood pressure 140/90 mmHg or          medication)

  • Definition 1 - MSy-WHO WHR
    WHR >0.90 or body mass index 30 kg·m-2
  • Definition 2 - MSy-WHO Waist
    Waist girth 94 cm

                At least three of the following:

  • Fasting plasma glucose 6.1 mmol·l-1

  • Serum triglycerides 1.70 mmol·l-1
  • Serum HDL cholesterol <1.0 mmol·l-1
